Hi darlings! (: This is the horrendous homework we have. D:
LANG ARTS!
Year 2 Classes
Lang Arts holiday homework
Read newspapers and magazines (in EL, of course) for current news on Singapore and the world.
Cut out 4 articles which interest you.
To ensure that the news you gather is current, you need 2 from November 2010 and 2 from December 2010.
Buy an A4-size exercise book either from our school bookshop or elsewhere (the exercise book need not have RVHS on its cover, but exercise books bearing the names of other schools are not acceptable). This will be your Lang Arts journal for Year 3.
Paste the articles, one on a new page in the exercise book. Leave the first page empty for you to record the contents of your journal later.
Write a reader response to each of the articles. Minimum number of words for each reader response is 250 words.
Your reader response involves a brief summary of the article followed by your views on the issues raised in the article.
Note: The selected articles should be expository in nature. (Check the dictionary for what is meant by ‘expository’ if you are not sure of the meaning of the word.)
Get all these ready on the first day of school. You will be asked to share the reader response orally in class before handing in the homework.
those retarded stuff we've done together as a class.
Will forever remain ours.
we criticise one another,
but we do not care.
we brush the criticisms aside,
and continue living our lifes.
playing with CNY decor,
laughing at teachers
knowing them for their pet phrases
we're the best.
we have issac who
kicks tables
bang chairs down.
pick them up,
bang them down again.
our classroom.
its the 'cleanest' classroom.
mr loke tells us to clean it up
"whos on duty?"
as he looks at the duty roster
our teacher is really funny too,
dont you think.
i hope we can stay together,
but i dun think it'll happen,
i think our class is perfect,
its where we're supposed to be,
unique,
the silent but strong class
2C (:
we gossip lots.
we fangirl lots.
we get pissed at teachers together
just like how we were pissed at loke
for screaming at gladys.
we do fight,
yes we do.
like darryl boon and jiajun
try to get others into trouble,
sometimes its pissing,
thats why we do that.
but at the end of the day,
we still love each other.
we talk about teachers behind our back,
we laugh at them,
we criticise them,
we say that we want to kill them one day.
but after our exams,
we love them.
they dont 'scold' us that badly,
we just want to thank you
for what you have done to help us this year.
we know that this class is where we belong,
this class is special,
unique.
better than other classes.
an environment that we love,
with laughter, fun, joy.
we love this class.
we dont want to leave.
after exams,
we cant get enough of life like this
we want to stay together,
but we know its not possible.
but lets just hope most of us stay,
so we can work hard next year,
and show,
the teachers,
that we are THE BEST.
this is our class,

two types i have in mind: (BOTH GOT BBQ PITS) Aloha Changi : Changi Garden Chalets - $150 per night (will be cheaper) - double storeys - 4 rooms: 1 Queen size bed and 6 single beds - 2 common and 2 attached toilets - but inconvenient (no shops and swimming pool + no direct shuttle bus + NO BICYCLE RENTAL) BIGGER link : https://www.aloharesorts.com.sg/resort/changi/changi-garden-chalets
Aloha loyang : Garden terraces - $140 per night (will be cheaper) - single storey - 2 rooms : 2 single beds and 2 double decker beds - 2 common toilets - quite convenient (got swimming pool + direct shuttle bus + BICYCLE RENTAL) SMALLER link : https://www.aloharesorts.com.sg/resort/loyang/garden-terraces
which one you all want?
OK WE WILL HAVE ALOHA LOYANG
people read this: The rental rates include air-con usage of up to a maximum of 25 units per day. Consumption beyond this amount will be charged at $0.25(before prevailing GST) per unit of consumption. SO DONT USE TOO MUCH AIRCON:D
More details Thursday, October 7, 2010 6:08 PM
I've searched and checked the dates. 2nd week of Nov is most preferred because there are still things going on on the first week of Nov, and the 3rd week is already like $200/night (up from $140/night) O_O Maybe 8th to 10th Nov?? 8th and 9th being the stayover nights ^^ But then got one Wenhao cmi. The rest should be okay??? :D Or else hold in Dec super ex, and after that Huixin & Tsiyuan would be unavailable too...
Now... need to confirm more details with Lingsheng, then can book le! :P Excited??? :D

few more papers :D then we will get to have more fun.
Hi 2C~ 5:16 PM
Recently, (really recent like a few mins ago), I found useful sites that will aid a lot in revision -.- Seriously technology rocks, it's like everything is available~!!!
okay sorry ppl! i correct my format for all sources sbq. :x
no need intro, just start off.
- group 1 which agrees to the question, explain why these sources make you infer that it agrees to the question/statement given.
- group 2 which disagrees to the question, explain why these sources make you infer that it disagrees to the question/statement given.
- do 2 reliability tests (example: source a is not reliable as it is [acami], explain, evidence, CR to source b. source b is reliable as [acami], explain, evidence, CK.)
- conclusion: which group is more impt and why? therefore, [your stand].
ya sth like that(: hope that helps too!><
hillary.
HISTORY o.o 4:14 PM
Hello 2C!
IDK if it's just me that is really blur about History or what. But uhms uhms, I roughly get the idea and shall post up the 'format' (not really lah) here. If it's wrong correct me. ><
SBQ
1. Infer (2 paragraphs)
- PEEL x 2 just your pure inference
2. Reliability (1 or 2 paragraphs)
- Author/Context/Audience/Message/Impact for one source - CK/CR
- If CR - write another para to make sure your source you cross-refer to is reliable also using ACAMI.
3. All sources. (5 paragraphs)
- Intro (state your stand)
- Group all your sources - Yes / No (this one will have 2 paragraphs cos you got to write 2 stands), explain individual stands with the sources
- Reliability (Look at point 2.)
- Conclusion (reaffirm your stand? I think so. o.o Something like weighing bah by comparing your yes and no sources)
SEQ
1. 3 Factor (5 paragraphs)
- Intro (state your stand)
- 1st view (Eg. Yes you agree), write 2 points on why you agree, which means it will have 2 paragraphs. Once again, use PEEL.
- 2nd view (Since you agreed, you must write one where you disagree), write 1 point = 1 paragraph, PEEL.
- Conclusion: Evaluate and prioritize/Weighing
2. Thinking question This one I'm not too sure on how many examples leh. I just think it's 2. The example question Xu Teng and Zhijun gave me is something like "Revolutions are planned."
- Intro (state your stand)
- 1st example (Use both China and Russia, so you must study both equally much lor. D: Sad to say.)
- 2nd example
- Conclusion (Reaffirm your stand)
Yep, it's something like that. Is there anything I said wrong? :X If there is, uhms uhms, just post to clarify okay. >< Hope that helped. JIAYOU PEOPLE! (: Love you guys!^^
Hillary.
Heyo 2C Friday, October 1, 2010 7:12 PM

Hope we all can...... GET OUT OF THIS SUCCESSFULLY ! yeah, let's all do well together! :D

Antibiotics Monday, September 27, 2010 11:08 PM
Hey everyone :DD I found a pretty useful site we can use to understand antibiotics better.
Coz the notes is one whole chunk of text that I didn't understand (not sure about you), so here's something more simple and hopefully more helpful to you guys! :)
Oh I have photocopied the 2007 and done it but I have no scanner/printer or anything, and I must say the Bio paper for that year was pretty difficult. A lot extension knowledge is needed in my opinion...
Have not done Chem but I'm about to do so, just tomorrow? :DD Yeah so I recommend you all go borrow the 07 exam booklet from the library, maybe look through or something. No harm :)
Once upon a time, there lived Sim Liew Beng who was an Associate Prof. One day, his pal, Associate Prof Melvyn Lin, invited him to his office at the Singapore Science University with cans of beer to bury his sadness in alcohol. But who knew, Melvyn Lin had obsessive compulsive disorder about his work and when Sim Liew Beng reprimanded him for their lack of cooperation, he wanted to kill his Prof to take revenge. So, he stuffed Prof Sim Liew Beng with cans of beer. Little did Liew Beng know that the beer was poisoned with cyanide, a vicious poison that kills any person without them knowing what hit him. But Sim Liew Beng drank the beer in trust that Melvyn wanted to drink him as buddies. When Liew Beng was drunk, Melvyn flashed out his 20cm long knife. He had a murderous look in his eyes, eyes that were thirst for blood and revenge. He hallucinated the horror and pain that Liew Beng would scream out when he stabbed him continuously. He went to the back of Liew Beng and thrusted it deep into his body. There it was, the knife was stuck in Liew Beng’s back. Melvyn let out a chuckle. Next, he retracted the knife out with all his might and the blood spluttered out everywhere. Melvyn had bloodstains on his face, clothes, body and his knife. He sticked out his tongue and licked the blood off his knife slowly and enjoying the taste of it. When he was done, he collected the blood in a saucepan and went to heat it. When the temperature was suitable, his lips touched the edge of the saucepan and warm red fluid flowed into his mouth. Melvyn was laughing hysterically. After that, he turned around and the knife slicked past Liew Beng’s forehead with a hissing sound, leaving him with a laceration. However, Liew Beng was not dead yet, he was lying in his blood but he could not move his body. The pain was excruciating and every second seemed like an eternity. He was drained out his blood while he had convulsions every here and there. For half an hour, he lied down there, experiencing torture that was beyond anyone’s endurance. Gina Foong entered the office, wanting to seduce Prof Melvyn and spending their night in paradise. However, at the sight of Liew Beng’s body, she let a scream that would scare even Satan himself. She shuddered in fear while she went forward slowly. She bent down and stuck her hand. Trembling, she poked Liew Beng’s body. Suddenly, Liew Beng grabbed her hand and pulled her towards him. Looking with his bloody eyes into Gina’s, he whispered, “I’ll be back, and when I do, you and all of you will di…….e…….” He gasped his last but his hand was slid down Gina’s leaving a trail of blood on her. Gina gulped, too afraid to move or respond. She was in a state of shock when Clarissa Sim found her. Gina was trembling beyond control but she managed to mumble out a few words, as if she was possessed.

trigonometry 12:07 AM
Hi to those having difficulties w Trigonometry assignment Q8 (like me),
The angle of elevation of the top of a dowel from a point on the ground is 54°. After walking 18 ft towards the dowel, the angle of elevation becomes 67°. What is the height of the dowel rounded to the nearest foot?fff BBB A. B62 ft B. B64 ft C. B58 ft D. B60 ft
Step 4: In right triangle QRS, tan 67° = y x
Step 5: x = y tan 67° » 0.424 y[Substitute the value of tan 67°.] [Use calculator.]
Step 6: In right triangle PRS, tan 54° = y (18 + x)
Step 7: 18 + x = y tan 54°[Substitute the value of tan 54° and simplify.]
Step 8: 18 + x = 0.726 y
Step 9: 18 + 0.424 y = 0.726 y[Substitute the value of x = 0.424 y.]
Step 10: 18 = 0.302 y
Step 11: y » 60
Step 12: Therefore, the height of the dowel is 60 ft.
Same concept, just follow :)

-Gladys; history rep. (ps our informal pic was awesome! ^^)
i'll miss all of you. really. Sunday, August 8, 2010 11:59 PM
Hi 2C :) It's been pretty long since I did an actual update.
I dunno, I was just looking through pictures we have taken since Year 1 and my, haven't we gone through a lot?
IDK, from the start of Y1 we had Issac. I must say we bonded quite a bit trying to get him away and all that. So we must really thank him for who we are today, actually. How we were @$%$ against him, and made sure he did nothing to disturb us.
The many times we cheered together like crazy lunatics - and even achieved the Friendship award during the YOG carnival :) We sure deserved it. Although we're definitely not a sporty class or anything, it doesn't matter because all of us have our own strengths :)
During morning assemblies, I do not hesitate to cheer for our classmates and feel embarrassed. Because I know there are many of you out there who will cheer together with me and save me the embarrassment :D Of course, that's because many of our classmates have outstanding achievements :) Whenever I hear 2C, I'm not surprised. Really.
I remember how much I hated all of you the start of Y1. I refused to listen to our PSLs - Xiuyun & Isa. They kept on telling us that we will miss all of you. It's a short 2 years that we must learn to appreciate. However I continued missing my primary school class. I really regret how I felt in the past. Because in the blink of an eye, we're left with a few months with each other. Really, really, how time flies.
Just think about it, in a few months time we're never going to be seen in the same class anymore. We're not going to have all of us seated in the same class. We're not going to be complaining and screaming at each other anymore. It kinda sucks to just think about it. Although we may still be in the same school, I know we'll never share the same bond anymore. We may get pissed at one another sometimes, but the grudge never stays.
I often relate class experiences to my CCA friends. And usually responses I get is "Why your class so fun one?" Then haiz I would share more and more fun things. It's really enjoyable sharing and laughing together about funny things that have already happened. But a pity I forget all about them when I get home. How can I relive those experiences again? :(
SYF is a experience with you all that I will never forget. Remember the initial practices with only 2D and 2K. We shouted and did the routines to the best of our ability. We wanted to own them all. Do you all remember? :D The actual day, playing around, having class activities while waiting at our holding area. Playing around while waiting for our bus to come as we were the last class to leave. We are amazing.
Of course, I will never forget the orientation we spent together at the old Malan campus. Back then, I was thinking everyone in 2C was so nice. To the extent that I couldn't take it. But of course, that thinking never last long... hahaha. Remember the campfire we spent together? It was something the current Y1s and the later batch will never have. And the activities we played together, the PSSes we went through.
Also, remember Total Defence Day last year? We had to eat some porridge that we had to pay 70cents for. Then we were all seated together during recess eating porridge :D Our PSLs came down and asked us why we were sitting together. Don't know, it's just instinctively, we ended up sitting together enjoying the same food :D
I regret wanting to pon PSS everyday last year. After I became a PSL did I realise how important PSSs were. It encourages class bonding and inject values at the same time. I really want those PSSs now. I will make sure I take part in all the activities that we're told to do so. :( If only I knew earlier, because if we were told to gather in a circle and play a silly game now, will we do so? We really need the help of facilitators who would help us.
I remember leading the Y1s during Orientation '10 this year. I almost died from all the screaming because the Y1s refused to cheer along with me :( Then, you all came over and helped me. Tsiyuan started to lead cheers and all of you followed, including the guys who came over. About 10+ of you cheered really loudly and then the whole canteen turned over to look at the commotion. I was really touched because afterwards, my class started cheering louder and louder. Thinking about this makes me really touched. Really love all of you very much.
Not forgetting the times when we had to do stuff together. The recycling project which we won and the paper mache. Last year there were CNY hampers and all that. We did everything together :) And the paper lantern during the Mid-Autumn Festival '09! Actually we have won quite a number of awards. Yeah :)
ALSO, remember the yusheng we had during CNY? We're probably the only Year 2 class (unsure) that thought of that idea and CARRIED IT OUT! During recess, took pictures all that. Prisca, do upload them at the end of the year to recall memories okay :) I regret not blogging about it, because now I don't even remember a single memory about it, only remember rushing all around the place....
And hahaha, our amazing class tee colour. Yes, other classes all have them in black and white, our paper mache animal colours :D But we have an amazing class tee in hot pink. And what makes it better is that many of you were willing to cooperate and wear it during national day. Although we got told off for doing so, it can't be helped that we have already worn it :) And that will always remain a fond memory of mine.
We may play pranks and hurl insults at one another. But I know those are one of the things that I'm going to miss after we part. A foreign environment once again, and those past memories will never play again. We're only going to be able to miss them after they're gone. Because all of us, including me, fail to cherish things while they're around.
Although we may split at the end of the year, all of you will always remain a part of me.

right side switch (RED)
left side switch (BLUE on index finger and GREEN on middle finger)
there are 5 colours for us to remember, namely red, blue, green, purple (red and blue) and white/pink (all) colours.
the colours for the head gear are as follows:
start of the performance there would be NO LIGHT.
in formation 1, the second cannon whereby everyone turns and hands on the forehead, the colour would be GREEN.
when transition to the next formation, SWITCH OFF the lights.
formation 2, for the cannon go down (in the rows of 4, after the 4 counts of actions) the colour would be BLUE.
then cannon up would be PURPLE.
followed by the splitting into the two lines would be WHITE/PINK. (all the switches on)
then when the cannon go down again, it would be BLUE.
when cannon going up, colour to PURPLE.
when running to 3rd formation, SWITCH OFF lights.
for the inner row who goes down first, colour would be GREEN. when going down again, SWITCH OFF.
the outer row would then stand and switch BLUE. followed by going down, SWITCH OFF.
inner row up, GREEN, go down SWITCH OFF.
outer row up, BLUE, and remain standing with light.
when the inner row stand up again, everyone switch to PURPLE in cannon.
4th formation to remain PURPLE throughout.
5th formation (ouch so troublesome...) to SWITCH OFF when running there.
first time after the compact, then cannon turn and kneel, switch to GREEN.
then get up and spread. first time going down, SWITCH OFF.
then going up, RED.
go down, PURPLE.
go up, RED.
compaction again SWITCH OFF lights.
then when the second time cannon turn and kneel, switch GREEN again.
remain GREEN when going to the last formation.
when cannon go down for the first time, change to BLUE.
then when come up, switch to PURPLE. and remain like this for the rest of the performance.
